OAK at fourteenth
Something I always look forward to when my parents visit me in Boulder is going out to dinner on Pearl Street. I’ve been dying to eat something, anything at OAK. So we sat down at the bar. Not the “libations” (drink) bar but instead we sat at the “Chef’s Table,” which overlooked the entire kitchen. It’s like sitting at the sushi bar, but better! OAK was packed, as usual, so my mother and I were able to watch the chefs make everything from Pork Tenderloin to Sea Bass. It was an amazing experience to see the food come to life on the finished plate. The atmosphere was lively, friendly and smelled sensational.
While I was there, I enjoyed wine, a mild goat cheese and cornbread skillet appetizer, and a chocolate banana dessert. I can’t tell you exactly what the food items were called because that is how quickly the menu changes! I very much appreciate the fact that OAK caters its menu to whatever is local and seasonal. Can’t wait until next time.
Udi’s Newest Restaurant on The Hill
Pickled Lemon, a middle-eastern inspired eatery, is a newbie cafe on University Hill in Boulder, Colorado. Interestingly enough, the cafe is owned by Udi’s! So you know it’s going to be great quality since they use Udi’s fresh baked, fat, fluffy pita bread.

Just because this cafe isn’t another sandwich or pizza spot — DON’T BE AFRAID! Ethnic food rocks. Pickled Lemon offers something different, and different is simply delicious.
I ordered “Chicken Shawarma Pita Sandwich” on my first visit and it was exploding with flavor and packed with high-quality ingredients like marinated chicken, hummus, house salad, sumac onions and much more. I highly recommend everyone to step out of their comfort zone and try something new — go check out Pickled Lemon! It’s a quick and delicious bite to eat in a bright, youthful atmosphere.

Interestingly enough, a “lemon pickle” can be used in Bloody Mary’s, Horseradish and Cocktail Sauce. To find out more about pickled or “preserved lemons”: Go Here
