Boulder Hates the Plastics

The latest news — Boulder is considering a fee on plastic bags at grocery stores! We all know that Boulder is green, but how far are they willing to go to ensure their sustainable rep? Will the community support this ban/fee on plastic and paper bags?

Perhaps laws will be formed, fees will be enforced, materials banned… So in the mean time, you better go out and invest in a reusable grocery bag.

7News reported: “Researchers estimated that Boulder citizens use somewhere between 9 million and 53 million plastic bags a year, and that a fee could generate as much as $3.7 million.

Turns out Telluride, Aspen and San Jose, CA have already banned plastic bags and put a fee on paper. Sounds like Boulder would be wise to enforce these regulations as well!

Reuseit.com is a cool website to start browsing accessible and stylish eco-friendly tote bags for all your grocery adventures!

It’s not official yet, but I’d say there is a pretty good chance we will be seeing a lot more reusable bags and a lot less plastic & paper at the grocery stores.
